Yep... More Random Photos
Yes, even more random photos in random order about random events. But that seems appropriate as no one word describes Vietnam more approporiately than RANDOM:

This was the great "chicken game". The VN kids against the VN American kids in a good old fashioned game of "catch the chicken":
It was great fun... and yes, we later ate the chickens for dinner:
People from the community came by to cop a squat and watch the activities at the school:
The VN kids were such great "liner upers". The VN American kids... well, not so much:
Nice friendly game of tug of war... in 104 degree temps over hard concrete... good times ;-)
The boys trying some sort of new VN food item... apparently Cameron was less than impressed:
This one probably needs explaining. Ashton lost his tooth... so we found out that there is a tooth fair of sorts in Vietnam. It is the Tooth Mouse. The mouse came and saw Ashton's tooth (in the soap box below) and left him a hundred thousand dong. Ashton was expecting US dollars... and was less than impressed with his dong... even though I explained to him that it would be silly to expect the VN Tooth Mouse to leave USD and that Dong was better than dollars... while in VN:

Were to begin
Were to begin... it is difficult to know where to start with explaining the Aid Expedition. Other blogs have captured the "stats"... the who/what/when of the Expedition so there is really no need for me to post that. What I want to express is the "spirit" of AE. And even spirit is not the correct word.
As you can see, I am really at a loss of words as to what it is I want to express here... so for the time being, I am just going to post some pictures (with brief explanations). It is going to take me some time to post the words/emotions behind all that was AE.
AE was such a whirlwind of activities that, as I told Ashton, the best you can hope to do is to record in your mind all that you see, hear, smell and feel. You have a lifetime to replay those events and to sort them all out in order to make sense of it all. Now, in the comforts of Phu Quoc, that sorting has just begun...

Alive in Phu Quoc
Just a quick note to let everyone now that although I fell off the grid a bit, I am now safe and sound on Phu Quoc Island. I was unable to blog from the computer at the hotel in Kien Giang (Rach Gia). Only those with laptops could update.
Oh, at the posts and pictures I have to share. But for now... just know the 2010 Aid Expedition was AMAZING! It was also tiring, thought provoking, emotionally draining, exhilarating, fulfilling, and successful... all at the same time.
